Count your blessings, not your troubles.

To everyone in my life that makes it worth the troubles, I thank and love you all dearly.

A week in the life.

Here are some shots from the past week, enjoy!

My mother and I went thrifting last Saturday after we dropped my sister and her son off at the airport. It was horribly painful to say goodbye, not knowing when I will see them next. Needless to say, we needed a little retail therapy. The "nut doesn't fall far from the tree" my dad always says so clearly we both chose Value Village as our shopping destination. Something about the hunt is thrilling and I knew that I'd find a little treasure that would cheer me up for the time being. I got a couple of things but here are two of them. Hand embroidered, hand made kitty brooch! It's well over the size of a Toonie and totally adorable. Beneath it in this photo is a little off the shoulder floral mini dress in a baby-doll loose fitting style. It cost 5.99$ and I knew I wanted to try something new for date night with Cyrus so I made the "splurge". I spent $14.75 in total and left with a grin. Momma found some really nice things for herself as well.

Here is another shot of the dress. I'm in a window in this photograph so the lighting is different but I think it's totally adorable. I wore vintage silver dangly earrings and my hair is a low bun slightly to the side. Not a classic Kali outfit but I was sad so lets give a girl a break.

I snapped this beautiful candid of Benjamin on our way to school on Wednesday. We were looking for all the numbers and letters carved into the sidewalk and seeing who could spot them the quickest. He won, he always does.

Rain drops that were left behind from the heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.

If this isn't a meal designed for me specifically I don't know what it is. Vegetarian chilli with grated cheddar cheese, garlic bread, organic orange peppers, organic avocado, red peppers, organic mixed bean sprouts and pea shoots! I'm drooling just thinking about this. Comfort food at its finest.

I forgot my bike lock on Thursday at home and had to store my bicycle in the basement so a crazy crackhead didn't come along and steal it. This photo was taken on my second trip down to the basement, in the eery elevator...alone...at night. I couldn't go alone the first time and made Ryan (coworker) come with me! Ghosts Ghosts Ghosts.

Cyrus generally works earlier then I do so naturally he falls asleep first. I laid in bed for at least an hour with my eyes wide open. Eventually I had to make little pictures on Emma and Elsie's new app to try and get heavy eyed. I posted this one to Instagram for "Throwback Thursday". I miss my sister so much now that she's gone back to Alberta. I love you forever, Jenna.

It was my Friday night and I totally deserved it. New Cider that I'd never tried before from Sweden. My verdict? Delicious but too sweat. I could never drink a six pack of this, my body wouldn't allow it. No way, no how. I suggest it as a "sit in the sun at 4am on your deck and put your feet up" drink.

I spent most of Friday with this babe of a woman. We drank coffee's after dropping the boys off at daycare, met a new roommate prospect for her and made a tattoo apt.

Then we laid in her backyard eating quinoa/avocado salads and drinking Yerba Matte's. She's great at capturing hilarious photos of me in the midst of doing something. My outfit details for this are as follows:
Vintage floral 90's dress: Thrifted @ Value Village?
Orange round sunglasses: Purchased @ Flavour & Decade
Crystal Bullet necklace: Hand-made by me years and years ago
Bendable silver bracelet: Thrifted @ Value Village
Grey thigh highs (rolled down): Purchased @ American Apparel
Vintage Dr Martens: Gift from a friend
Lipstick: New York City by CHANEL

We went thrifting a little earlier on in the day and I found this mug to add to the collection! I also got a mid century style class and a 1970's green one. If you haven't realized, I collect kitschy and vintage ceramics and glassware.

Ended my day with some beers with my main man. I don't usually enjoy beer but I didn't mind it. We watched Evan Almighty, goofed around and made an epic chicken dinner. All in all, my only day off this week was thoroughly enjoyed.
Vintage "cat eye" ring made in Mexico: Purchased @ HUNTER GATHERER
Black "Drew Barrymore" sweater (She wears and almost identical one in one of her movies from the 90's) Thrifted @ Salvation Army

This is me this morning at 5:55am! I had to work the early shift and wanted to die. I was one of those people who, no matter how tired she gets, doesn't have bags under her eyes. Thanks mom and pops, I owe you one. For those ladies who do get them, try putting cold spoons from the freezer under your eyes when you wake up, I hear it works wonders. PLUS, its free.

On my bike ride home from work I passed by the flower truck that parks near my house and purchased this gorgeous peony for only $1. It's now in a clear vintage glass vase on my kitchen table. Outfit Details:
Blue Velvet 1960's jacket: Traded @ Lovely Things Vintage
Cream Crochet top: Purchased @ The Patch
High Waisted Leopard Jeans: Cheap Mondays purchased @ Rebel Rebel

Enjoy you're weekends, todays my Monday.

Family, forever.
I am so thankful that my sister had the chance to come and visit. I have missed her more then words can express and it feels so great to be surrounded by my family. It's a rare thing to have us all together so I'm cherishing every second of it. I bonded instantly with Zeyad and I will be heartbroken when he goes back to Alberta. I hope they visit again in one year. He will be freshly two with a little brother or sister by his side. These photos were all taken yesterday when my momma drove them to Victoria to spend their last few days with me. We found a break in the rain and went to Dallas Beach. It was Zeyad's first time seeing the ocean.

Outfit Details:
Pastel Floral Blazer: Thrifted @ Value Village
Vintage Rhinestone Brooch: Purchased @ Vanity Fair Antique Shop
Cream Silk Top: Thrifted @ Value Village
Black Skinny Jeans: Cheap Monday Purchased @ Rebel Rebel
Black Ankle Rain Boots with Bow: Purchased @ WINNERS

This is the most adorable mother/son photo I have seen in a long  time. His face is priceless and Jenna looks beautiful and calm. I'm glad we managed to capture a great shot of each of us together, that seldom happens.

Once again I'm sorry for my lack of "outfit" posts but my life seems to have taken a different turn. I still wear all my vintage clothes on my days off but I rarely have the time to stand around while someone takes pictures of me. Plus, my favourite blogs are the ones that show real life, love and family.

Welcome to my life you loving little creature Pt.2

Sunday, Day Two: Ben and I woke up bright and early followed closely behind by Jenna and Zeyad. I made everyone tea and got some breakfast for the little ones. I've stopped drinking coffee as of three weeks ago (I cheated once, horrible, I know) and so far I find it's actually easier to get up in the morning with Ben and be in a good mood. I use to feel like I was needing something before I could actually be a pleasant person to be around but now I just look forward to biking with him to preschool! We had a slow morning filled with drawing and SpongBob Squarepants and tons of cuddles. I told Ben I would take him to Bright Angel Park no matter the weather so we met up with my step sister, her two sons and their cousin, all of which are boys. They played in the woods and on the suspension bridge (with me panicking below ready to jump into the water if anything went wrong) We ended up at Steph's house where Ben got to collect chicken eggs and see the goats and have more time in the great outdoors. I wanted him to be with his mother on Sunday because I feel like every mother has the right to her own child on Mothers Day so we drove back into Victoria in the late afternoon and dropped Ben off. I had a quick visit at my house with mom, Jenna and Zeyad before they set back for the Cowichan Valley. She'll be back on Friday to stay with me for two days and I couldn't be more pleased. I love family, I can't wait for it to grow larger with every decade.

Ben really wanted to be the one to push Zeyad on the swings. My heart melted, many times over. What an incredible little pair they made. Zeyad was mesmerized by Ben's colouring and the feeling of his shaved head.

I was scooping little Z over the water so he could reach in and collect wet rocks. My mom snapped this shot of us after he grabbed one.  I totally bogart the baby and it's hard to get him away from me.
