I'M LIVING IN A GLORIA DULCIE DREAM

Have you ever met someone you had an instant connection with? A connection that makes you feel as if you'd already known the person forever? Perhaps it was the Libra Gemini cosmic love but I felt this way about an incredibly rad individual named Alex. This post is about her. She's far away on the other side of the world but I wish she was here getting drunk, giving kittens catnip and running on rooftops with me. If you're curious why this post is about her, keep scrolling.
Alex use to tell me how she wanted to start a clothing line. I can honestly say
she is the only person I've ever met who has told me that and I didn't think
"oh god, not another one". She was (is) inspiring. One of those woman you see
who radiates beauty and everyone just adores. (Plus she's hilarious which is a
major bonus) Everyday I would come to work and she'd be wearing some crazy
radical outfit that was always admirable and never too"on trend". I remember once
she referred to a dress as "dick pink" and I will never again wear that shade.
Alex approached me a few months ago about being a model for her clothing line.
The fact that I just had a baby (He's under 1 year old) makes me feel really good
about myself that her (and other brands/women) are contacting me about
modelling/brand rep work. I'm proud that I'm in better shape now then I was
before I had my little Lou Valentine. OBVIOUSLY I said "YES OMG YES"
to this proposal. She sent me close to half of her most recent collection
and I was fucking ecstatic when the package finally arrived. Firstly, I wasn't
expecting so many things and secondly the fit was perfect for everything.
I will add that I am not tiny. I'm 5'9, 140lbs and a 36-28-36 with a 35 inch inseam.
When someone says "designer" to me or "sample size" or even "one size fits all"
(who the fuck you catering to yo) I automatically assume it wont fit me. When
Alex's line appeared at my house I was apprehensive to try everything on but can I
just say to you tall curvy mama's out there that EVERYTHING FIT PERFECTLY.

My first pick from her line was the "Kesey" cropped sweater [Available here in
a few different colors] I love it. It was my first pick because it's breastfeeding
friendly. I can easily sneak my tits out underneath (major bonus as I normally like
to nurse below my clothing and not above it- less creepy old men stare if they cant
ogle that extra somethin'somethin') I love this sweater because it's made of cotton
and its got that whole goth meets bohemian vibe I'm all about. The wide neckline
adds sex appeal without it being revealing which is my 'go-to" when choosing an
outfit. I don't want to be that "frumpy mom" who "let herself go" but I also
don't want to appear outwardly sexy. Because I am actually quite curvy I feel
uncomfortable when people stare at me in reveling clothes. This isn't something
that's developed since becoming a mother- I have always been this way and
probably always will. I believe women can be incredibly sexy without having to
be half naked. Alex your fashion embodies me as a person and I am SO
grateful that you have so kindly gifted me these gorgeous garments. You better
believe I will be making a few purchases when your next line drops!

I pared my Kesey cropped sweater with my go-to layering piece for cropped items
the "Voile" slip by Free People. If these weren't a pretty penny (even on Ebay,
fuck you Canada) I would own one in every color. I kept it basic and somewhat
daytime meets evening casual. Topshop ripped jeans with my genuine vintage
squash blossom and wooden and leather platforms. I wanted to add a bohemian
touch to the sweater without it being overpowered. These sleeves have me giving
all the heart eyes. Pom Poms aren't only a rarely seen thing in clothing but they
remind me of Alex. Girl, I love you. You're a rad human and I hope you keep
doin' what your doin' because you are talented.

If you're interested in this cropped sweater or anything else from her line you can check
it out here! I am all about supporting women and helping them achieve everything they
want and desire from life. If you have a creative gift, don't be afraid to share it with the
world, we will be forever grateful.
XOXO,
KALI
